Happy Birthday Baby!

What happened! Where did a year go?  Our baby turned one year old last week!  It was hard to imagine being pregnant and it was hard to imagine an itty bitty in the house.  But all of that was true a year ago.  So recent yet so far away.  Lydia is a joyful, strong one year old.  She enjoys being with her brother and sister.  She loves to be held and smothered with kisses and affection.  While not walking yet, we expect to find her running through the house soon - and probably with no warning.  Eating is one of her favorite things to do; being in the water a close second.  She also likes to be on the "go" which is good because that we are!  We can't imagine our family with out Lydia and we are so thankful God has blessed us with her!

Opening gifts.  Thank you grandparents, aunts and uncles, and friends!
We hung balloons from above.  They were attached to silver stars that were stuck to the ceiling.

Lantern lighting.  A send off to the stars! Two lanterns were lit and we watched them sail over the city lights up to the stars.  Our neighbors are also pictured here.  They have a little girl Lydia's age and a son Lukas' age.

The cake.  Strawberry filling (icing flavored with jam) and butter cream frosting - bakery style (with much trial and error). A glittery sprinkle start in the center.  Stars glued to wooden skewers.  

Star cookie favors

Star cookies made in silicon molds.  We usually use these molds in the summer to make popsicles but I read you could use them to make shaped cookies, brownies and cakes. While they turned out well, their height was problematic.

One of the great things about the star theme was that this past summer our school cleaned out the Prom closet and threw out their old supplies.  They did a star theme a few years ago and I grabbed a bunch of stuff.  At the time I thought it would make great craft supplies for the kids but it turned out perfect for our birthday theme.
